For 50 years, the internationally renowned American artist Dan Graham (b. 1942) has traced the symbiosis between architectural environments and their inhabitants through a practice that encompasses curating, writing, performance, installation, video, photography and architecture.
Graham first showed at Modern Art Oxford, then the Museum of Modern Art Oxford, in 1978. Graham described this exhibition as a key point in his career which led to the development of his signature architectural pavilions. The artist has spent much of the following 40 years creating variations of the pavilion in locations all over the world. His edition for Modern Art Oxford is based on a drawing made by the artist for an underwater bookshop and cafe in Marseilles.
Dan Graham’s edition for Modern Art Oxford was produced to accompany his work included in Modern Art Oxford’s KALEIDOSCOPE exhibition Mystics and Rationalists, the third exhibition in Modern Art Oxford’s 50th anniversary year programme in 2016.
Exclusively made for Modern Art Oxford, our artist editions are often created to accompany a major exhibition in the galleries. Modern Art Oxford is a charity and all proceeds from the sale of these works directly support our exhibition and education programmes. All editions come with a certificate of authenticity.
