Dedication (2016)

Silkscreen print onto Satin paper, 310gsm

Dimensions: 297 x 210 mm (unframed)

Numbered and signed verso by the artist

Inspired by anthropology, linguistics and archeology, Polish artist Maria Loboda (b.1979) is interested in the symbolic connotations of physical objects in relation to time and history. Her multi-media practice ranges across sculpture, installation and drawing in an investigation of the connection between material things and the spiritual realm, between rationality and mysticism.

Loboda’s edition for Modern Art Oxford was produced to accompany a major new work commissioned for inclusion in The Vanished Reality, the final episode of KALEIDOSCOPE, Modern Art Oxford’s year long 50th anniversary celebration in 2016.

As part of the celebrations, Modern Art Oxford crowdfunded a landmark, collaborative publication that celebrated and captured moments from Modern Art Oxford’s 50 years of critically acclaimed exhibition making. Loboda was invited to take part in the publication and created a brand new 'dedication' exclusively for Modern Art Oxford. Loboda made Dedication with the intention of the blank space being filled with the name of someone that means a lot and the edition being given to that person.

Exclusively made for Modern Art Oxford, our artist editions are often created to accompany a major exhibition in the galleries. Modern Art Oxford is a charity and all proceeds from the sale of these works directly support our exhibition and education programmes. All editions come with a certificate of authenticity.
