The work of New York based German artist Viola Yeşiltaç (b. 1975) explores the displacements between photography, drawing, sculpture and performance. Drawing attention to the materiality of artworks Yeşiltaç’s work considers how ‘the fictional world leaks and leaves a stain in the physically present world’.
Viola Yeşiltaç’s edition for Modern Art Oxford was produced to accompany her work included in The Indivisible Present, the first exhibition in KALEIDOSCOPE, Modern Art Oxford’s 50th anniversary year programme in 2016.
This edition is taken from a series of photographs by Yeşiltaç titled I Really Must Congratulate You on Your Attention to Detail. In this series, the artist created a temporary paper construction and captured it on film before it collapsed, rendering an ephemeral moment permanent. A selection of photographs from the series were included in The Indivisible Present.
